The 2023-24 NBA season starts in late October and, as is tradition, a new NBA season approaching means the NBA 2K24 video game has launched. At this point in the basketball offseason, most of the off-court player movement has been finalized and with no more draft talk, trade talk or free agency talk, NBA fans in cities across the league need fodder to continue keeping their basketball conversations active. And while residents patiently wait for progress in the future of Minnesota sports betting, they may have some time to play sports-based video games.
One thing that fans choose to discuss is the player ratings in the latest edition of the game, especially the ratings of the game's biggest stars. Who has been snubbed, who is overrated, and perhaps most importantly - which teams have the most star players?
Most NBA 2K24 Star Power
MinnesotaBets decided to take a look at which teams have the most stars by utilizing 2Kratings.com and seeing how many players with a rating of 85 or higher each team has. In the NBA, star players typically lead to wins and playoff appearances so seeing where the Timberwolves stand among the rest of the league is a good exercise before predicting the success of the team going forward. Below is something you wouldn't likely see on Minnesota sportsbook apps, which makes this a unique and fun ranking.
Timberwolves Have Two Stars for NBA 2K24
Six different teams lead the way with three-star players: The Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks. The Timberwolves check in behind them with two stars, joining a long list of teams that include the defending champion Denver Nuggets and their Finals opponent, the Miami Heat.
The two Timberwolves ranked above 85 in overall rating on NBA 2k24 are Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards. These two will need to justify their ratings and perhaps even make a case for an increase moving forward if Minnesota is going to improve upon last season's disappointing performance. The team's 42-40 record was strong enough to get into the playoffs but no further, as the Timberwolves lost to the eventual champion Nuggets in the first round in five games. Towns battled illness and injury all season and wasn’t at 100% health near enough, suggesting a bounce back could be in store. Edwards had a strong season and a really strong run in the playoff series, solidifying his ranking as a star.
In the NBA you need your best players to be your best players and if the NBA 2K24 rankings have any merit, the Timberwolves will be looking to Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards to carry the mail in the upcoming season.
