What was mostly a dream season for Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings met a nightmarish end on Monday night, with the 14-3 NFC North stalwart’s season ending abruptly in the NFC Wild Card Round at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams handed Darnold and the Vikings a 27-9 rout on Monday, with the former USC signal caller posting a miserable QBR of 13.6 in the one-sided defeat.
With the former Jets, Panthers and 49ers QB set to hit the open market this offseason, it’s worth wondering whether Minnesota will come to a long-term deal with the veteran or opt to use a franchise tag on the 27-year-old, which got us at MinnesotaBets.com thinking about where Darnold goes from here. According to the team at Spotrac.com, Darnold’s current market value is $40.1 million, with the sports contract site estimating the veteran to earn a four year deal worth $160.494 million this offseason, ranking 14th in the NFL in terms of salary should such a deal happen in the coming months.
